If you like anything relating to folklore or werewolves [or anything creepy in general], I encourage you to take a look at this series by ~FictionToArt! Their creations have an appeal to them that may make you reconsider how you feel about this genre in general.1. When did the first spark of inspiration motivate you to create The Eeks?My original inspiration came from reading R.L. Stine's series Goosbumps that a friend encouraged me to read since I'd always been fascinated with Fantasy and Sci-Fiction. At first I created a series called The Chills Of My Life which then evolved into The Eeks later on when I finished fully developing it.
2.How did you come up with the name Fentic Falls Middle School? Is there a significance behind the name?Fentic Falls is the town Jeanie moves to when her grandmother gives her house over to Jeanie's dad in her will. Fentic was the original founder of the land's last name. His full name was Henry Fentic and the Falls came when he found a hidden waterfall buried deep within the woods that now has the town's park.
3. You seem to appreciate things that others are usually afraid of [Spiders]. Do they have a place in your story? If so, do you attempt to change everyone's negative perception of them?In my story I bring out a few points such as bullying and how one thing can lead to another even if it's something small and simple. Spiders do have a place in the story but I don't actually try to change peoples opinions on them even though it is mentioned later in the story by one of the characters how much of a benefit spiders are to our environment.
4. You have a dark tone to your story and characters. Werewolves and vampires are usually gruesome but you manage to make them look elegant. Was this intended?I've always liked the classic creatures such as the werewolves and vampires. Both of which have been changed greatly since the originals. I try to keep my creatures how they were originally depicted and then take a few of each species and make them a good whole-hearted caring person. I try to emphasize how there can be good in all things and that just because something has a bad rap doesn't mean it's all bad.
5. Do you base all of your characters off folklore/mythology, or are some creations entirely your own? Most of my creatures are based off of mythology and folklore such as my vampires, werewolves, elves, giants, and dragons. But a few I've created all my own such as the villains are mutated and morphed with what there career is. Such as one was a clock maker until the evil vampire Normad morphed him into a living nightmare that's half clock half human. Also some of my characters are mutants which is again based off of a few Sci-Fi themes but are mixed with animals and other creatures.
6. Do you have any advice for any future creators that would like to create a story of their own? They best advice I can give is to read. Reading is the biggest thing that inspired me, along with watching movies. Reading and watching what other people have created is a huge part of creating our own ideas. Other people and even nature can give us inspiration to create our own worlds and open our eyes and minds to things we would never have thought of before.
